Shane Williams has slammed his own performance in the Ospreys Heineken Cup clash against Biarritz which saw the Welshmen being knocked out of Europe.

Retired Wales international Williams said of the Ospreys performance, "It was probably our worst performance in European rugby.

"We have to give Biarritz some credit. They were really good with their No.8 Imanol Harinordoquy and scrum-half Dimitri Yachvili bossing the game."

"They have got world-class players but we're better than that display," he told Wales Online.

"It just started badly for us and we couldn't get into the game. No matter what we did, it didn't come off."

"My message to the players is: 'pick your heads up, learn from the experience and make sure it doesn't happen again'."

"We've still got a lot to play for this season with the Pro 12. It's up to us to make a mark in that."

Ospreys coaching boss Scott Johnson admitted that he knew early on that it would be a bad day for the Ospreys.

"We knew it was going to be a hard day at the office because they started so well and us so poorly."

"When you have got that sort of tidal wave coming at you, it's hard to stop.""

Biarritz captain Harinordoquy said: "We played some of our best rugby of the season to win a European quarter-final."

"We're happy with the result because we knew the Ospreys have a strong squad."

Ospreys captain for the day Justin Tipuric said that his team's performance was unacceptable.

"As players we want to win every game. We set ourselves high standards but we didn't reach them," said Tipuric.

"It's quite hard to say what went wrong. We will have to watch the footage."

"We know what we could have done. At the end of the day, you have got to win these games but it didn't happen."

"It wasn't what you expect from a team of our capability - we have let our fans down."

"We knew it was going to be tough to get back in it if we gave them an early start but that's what we did."
